PF Racing Wins IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge at Sebring
A fight to the finish. Congratulations to Chad McCumbee, James Pesek, and the PF Racing team for their outstanding performance at Sebring International Raceway, where they earned their first win of the 2022 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season in the Alan Jay Automotive Network 120 race!
Their #40 Ford Mustang GT4 on Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GS1R wheels had qualified on the seventh row for the green flag start. But smart driving in the opening stint by James Pesek set them up for success, when Chad McCumbee took over driving duties. Chad managed to work his way through the rest of the field and found himself in the GS class lead, at the post-caution restart with 3 minutes and 25 seconds remaining in the race. With his tires beginning to fade, it was a battle to hold on to the lead against challenges from Eric Foss’s No. 56 Murillo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT GT4 and Trent Hindman’s No. 7 Volt Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4. But McCumbee held his ground and found his way to the race win just 0.472 seconds ahead of Hindman.
PF Racing and the rest of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge field will return to action at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca on April 29-May 1.
